AMD to invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic AI infrastructure deal

AMD announced a partnership with Anthropic under which the chipmaker will invest up to $5 billion while helping expand Anthropic's computing capacity. As part of the deal, Anthropic will deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD's Instinct MI450 AI GPUs using AMD's Helios rack-scale system. The companies plan to deploy the first gigawatt in the first half of 2027. Anthropic has also signed AI infrastructure deals with Google, Broadcom, Amazon, SpaceX, and TeraWulf.
