MCP adopts a stateless session ID approach to scale more easily

The Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard that lets AI models securely connect to external data sources and tools, is changing how it handles session IDs to a stateless model so servers can operate more easily at larger scale. The new specification has been public since May. The AI agent infrastructure startup Arcade, which raised $60 million in June, detailed the change; client tools such as Claude open a session and reuse a server-issued session ID on each request under the current design.
