Couchbase powers Capella iQ AI assistant with Amazon Bedrock and Claude models

Couchbase built a multi-model AI architecture for Capella iQ, its AI-powered developer assistant that generates database queries, recommends indexes, and supports multi-turn conversations. The system uses Amazon Bedrock to integrate Anthropic's Claude family of models, providing flexibility across multiple foundation model providers. The architecture spans two AWS Regions (us-east-1 and us-west-2) for high availability and uses Amazon EKS clusters with VPC interface endpoints to keep inference traffic within AWS infrastructure. The design supports automatic failover and load distribution across US regions without pre-provisioned capacity.
