ElevenLabs to hire 173 people in California expansion

ElevenLabs announced a major expansion of its California operations, planning to hire 173 people across the state in high-paying roles in research, engineering, sales, and other functions, while investing millions of dollars in its California presence. The company has been awarded an incentive through the California Competes Tax Credit (CalCompetes) program, administered by Governor Gavin Newsom's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). ElevenLabs already has staff across California, with San Francisco and Los Angeles as its primary hubs. The 173 new roles will deepen California's specialized audio research and engineering talent. The company is also deepening collaboration with the State of California on public services and accessibility, exploring how voice AI can make government information more accessible to visually impaired, low-literacy, elderly, and linguistically diverse communities, and participating in the Governor's task force on countering tech-enabled fraud.
