OpenAI leases 88,000 sq ft Dublin docklands site for new EU headquarters
OpenAI has leased 88,000 square feet at the Tropical Fruit Warehouse in Dublin's docklands for its new European Union headquarters, with relocation to the Iput Real Estate-developed site planned for late 2026. The company confirmed plans to add 250 jobs in Ireland over the next two years across go-to-market, engineering, user operations, human resources, finance, privacy, legal, and corporate functions, expanding on its current workforce of more than 100 employees in the country. Taoiseach Micheál Martin attended the announcement event. Emma Redmond, associate general counsel and head of OpenAI Ireland, said the new headquarters reflects the company's long-term commitment to the region. OpenAI Ireland Limited has served as the data controller for European Economic Area and Swiss users since 2024, using GDPR's one-stop-shop mechanism to designate Ireland's Data Protection Commission as its lead supervisory authority. Anthropic expanded its Dublin office four months earlier, tripling its space to 21,000 square feet and adding 200 roles in March, citing significant year-on-year revenue growth across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
