Alibaba signals Qwen 3.8 Max will be open-weighted after improvements

Alibaba announced a new live version of Qwen 3.8-Max-Preview with broad gains and stated they are working toward an official version that will be open-weighted. The model has 2.4T parameters and includes strong multimodality and native video understanding capabilities. The announcement came four days after Kimi K3 2.8T was announced.
