Microsoft expands Azure infrastructure with AMD's Helios AI platform and EPYC processors

Microsoft is integrating AMD's Helios AI platform and next-generation EPYC datacenter processors into Azure to support AI and high-performance computing workloads. The expansion will power three new Azure offerings: HDv2 VMs for data processing, HXv2 VMs for electronic design automation, and ND MI455X v7 VMs for AI inference workloads. AMD plans to ship Helios later in 2026 to Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI, and others, with an estimated cost of $5 million or more per system.
